We invite you to sit down at our table to learn about indigenous communities near and far via our digital Cultural Talk Story Series.  

"The Ainu: Irankarapte" with Maya Sekine and Dr. Vince Okada  

The Story: Nukar-yan nu-yan,pirasare-yan! See, listen and please spread the information about the Ainu to the world. Join us to learn the history and overviews of some current issues of the Ainu, the indigenous people of Japan who are native to northern Japan and Russia. Maya Sekine, who is an emerging young Ainu leader from Hokkaido, Japan, will share her efforts to promote the Ainu language, culture and experiences as well as everything she has learned from other indigenous groups. Maya will also share some challenges the Ainu are facing.
